Fair Usage Policy

Last updated April 11, 2022

What is the Fair Usage Policy

The Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is our way of protecting the integrity of the Maxihost network.

As with all acceptable usage policies, if you use more than a certain, pre-determined “fair” amount (your FUP threshold) in a given timeframe or malicious activity like a DDoS attack from your device is detected, we reserve the right to disable access to your servers (null-routing), in order to keep the integrity of our network and allow other users to keep accessing the network without issues.

How the Fair Use Policy for Unmetered DDoS Protection work

When mitigating DDoS attacks, we'll use all of the capacity of our scrubbing centers to properly deflect malicious traffic from reaching your servers without affecting performance and uptime. If at any point the attack is larger than our capacity, and if we're at risk of compromising the network and other customers, we'll null-route the affected IP, which essentially means that we'll place the IP or IPs being attacked on a route that leads nowhere for a specific amount of time, usually two hours.

Once the attack stops or decrease to a size that we're able to handle, it's placed back on our routing table.
